This ivory silk Caronia Herrera two piece dress is the perfect combination of drama and simplicity. The floor-length detachable skirt has a full train with plenty of length for a tall bride (I’m 5’7” and there was still lots of length even with heals). The skirt attaches to the main dress using buttons so it can easily and quickly be removed mid-celebration.
The main dress is a beautifully structured form-fitting dress that hits just above the knee with a peplum to cover the buttons used to attached the lower skirt. The overlapping back detail of the peplum is one of my favorite parts of the dress. The art deco-style of the embroidery at the top of the dress is also a lovely detail that continues from front all the way around to the back. There’s an interior zip-up corset at the top of the dress (from the natural waist up) that is surprisingly comfortable while still providing a lot of support and structure. This, and the cut of the dress, help create a very flattering shape once it’s on.
As mentioned in the Alteration Description section below, the flower detail at the peplum on the original dress has been removed and the peplum has been stitched to create a seamless line.
